Hi, I am the site admin for Roscoe, and he’re a little story…
I was a sad case. My childhood meals usually consisted of burgers, macaroni and cheese, sloppy joes and the like. No flavor, all starch, often times out of a box. That’s just the way things were, and I had to eat the hand that was dealt to me. My food had the same amount of flavor as a deck of cards, anyway.
I didn’t even like steak. Blasphemy, I know. They should have had outreach programs for kids like me.
So after a while, I started to grow. As an adult in life but a child in food selection, I was gently directed to what real food and flavor was. Pitmaster and family and I were out having dinner a few years ago. We were on a mission to get the right steak in me to show what I was missing. With the right mindset, a stiff drink loosened me up a bit and suddenly that steak seemed mighty appealing. In fact, the more we waited for it to be presented to me at the table, the more I started craving it.
That my friends, was the day I became a man. Why? Because it was good. Really good. Much better then the oyster that I tried after another couple of drinks, which is another story on its own that I like to tell when I want to show no shame.
So while I like my steaks a bit more well done than most, I at least like them now. I don’t even need the drink to enjoy it but a nice red wine or even a rum-based drink sure does loosen life, doesn’t it?
Phase II: The Flavorful Fire
As you might have guessed, hot and spicy foods were also something that I avoided. Not any more. Pitmaster and I were again out grabbing a meal and a couple of drinks a few weeks ago, and he asked for some Cholula to go with the nachos we were snacking on. A lightbulb went off in my head. Of course! On my road to good food, I needed to follow Roscoe. He knows all and will lead me to the land of the flavorful.
We were lucky, the bar and grill that we were at had Cholula. I sprinkled some of the Cholula on the nachos on my plate, and dove in without reservation. Sweet flavorful heat. With an open mind and encouragement from good friends, all things become tastier. Cholula is my new best friend. Unfortunately I kept forgetting to have the wife look for it when out shopping because it is something we never considered before.
Now my wife is off the hook. I received a little gift this morning from my friends Roscoe and Pitmaster, a bottle of Chili Garlic Cholula. Hot heaven in a bottle, baby. Set my face on fire and watch me smile.
I keep a box of breakfast Hot Pockets in the freezer at work, only for emergencies when I am running behind or too busy to grab a real breakfast. I know, I know…I might as well eat the cardboard box they came in, but at least I made it better. Chili Garlic Cholula makes even cheap microwave meals taste better.
Thanks, guys. Thanks for showing me the way.? I am one step closer to living the Roscoe Lifestyle.
Don’t be like me. Don’t be afraid of flavor. If you want to get your hands on some Chili Garlic Cholula, Roscoe has a few spare bottles available.
